Exploring Magic and Inclusion: Avsar Disability Services’ School Holiday Excursion to Fairy Park 

As part of our School Holiday Program, Avsar Disability Services organised a memorable excursion to Fairy Park in Anakie, Victoria, on Friday, 3rd October. The event was designed to offer participants an engaging, educational, and fun-filled experience during the holidays — bringing together creativity, imagination, and community in one magical setting. 

A Day to Remember 

A total of 32 participants, accompanied by 12 dedicated support workers and staff, joined the journey to Fairy Park. The day began with cheerful anticipation as everyone gathered for departure, ready for a day of wonder and discovery. 

Upon arrival at 11:00 a.m., our group was welcomed by the park’s enchanting atmosphere — from castle towers and winding pathways to vibrant storybook displays. Fairy Park is Australia’s oldest theme park dedicated to fairytales, and it remains a favourite destination for families and community groups who wish to explore a world of storytelling and fantasy. 

Participants had the chance to experience over dozens of fairy tale exhibits that brought to life well-loved characters such as Cinderella, Snow White, and Jack and the Beanstalk. Each display was designed to captivate visitors through sound, movement, and colourful craftsmanship, making it both entertaining and educational. 

Building Connections Through Shared Experiences 

At Avsar Disability Services, excursions like this are more than just recreational activities — they are opportunities to encourage social participation, confidence, and inclusion. The Fairy Park trip allowed participants to interact with peers, develop independence skills, and enjoy being part of a supportive community outside their usual routines. 

Throughout the day, our support workers ensured that everyone felt comfortable, safe, and included, while also promoting a sense of adventure and curiosity. Whether exploring the castle grounds, taking group photos with fairy tale characters, or sharing lunch together under the open sky, every moment was a reminder of how small experiences can create lasting joy. 

More Than Just a Day Out 

The excursion ran smoothly until 3:30 p.m., filled with laughter, discovery, and connection. For many participants, this was their first time visiting Fairy Park — a chance to experience something new and exciting while strengthening friendships. 

Activities like this play an important role in our holistic approach to disability support. By combining fun with learning and community engagement, we help participants develop vital life skills such as communication, problem-solving, and teamwork. These experiences also boost self-esteem and encourage a sense of belonging — values at the heart of everything we do at Avsar Disability Services.
